PSSSB typing rules depend on the recruitment

PSSSB recruits for different departments and posts. The skill test can vary by advertisement, so there is no safe universal rule for language, font, speed, duration or error calculation.

Begin with the official advertisement and every later notice or corrigendum. Write the requirements for your post on one page before starting a practice plan.

Confirm the language and input method

Punjab recruitment skill tests commonly focus on Punjabi and may also include English or another computer skill, depending on the post. Do not prepare for Hindi, Punjabi or English merely because an older test used it.

For Punjabi, distinguish the display font from the keyboard input method. A notice may refer to a Unicode font such as Raavi and an input layout such as Inscript. Both settings must match your test instructions.

Build a notification checklist

Extract the exact details from the notice instead of relying on a summary page.

• Advertisement number, post and department.
• Required language or separate language tests.
• Font, Unicode requirement and keyboard layout.
• Test duration, target speed and qualifying accuracy.
• How full, partial, spacing and punctuation errors are counted.
• Whether the test is qualifying or contributes to merit.
• Any sample software, passage or test-day instructions.

Create an accurate baseline

Take a timed test using the confirmed layout and record speed, accuracy and error types. Use a passage you have not memorised. This baseline shows whether your main limitation is layout knowledge, spelling, punctuation, concentration or pace.

Repeat the same duration each week. Comparing different test lengths can make progress look larger or smaller than it really is.

Practise Punjabi typing systematically

Start with letters, vowel signs, common combinations, numerals and punctuation. Move to administrative vocabulary and unseen paragraphs after key locations become familiar.

When an error repeats, isolate it. Type the correct character or word slowly several times, use it in sentences, and check it again the following day. This produces better improvement than taking another random test immediately.

Use mock tests that resemble the real test

A useful mock matches the official duration, input layout and correction rules as closely as possible. Practise without pausing the clock, changing the layout or looking up a key.

After the test, group mistakes by type and select one weakness for the next session. Track averages over several mocks instead of relying on a single high score.

Adjust the plan to your current ability and the exam date.

• Week 1: layout lessons and slow accuracy drills.
• Week 2: words, sentences and short timed passages.
• Week 3: full-duration mocks plus detailed error review.
• Week 4: stable exam simulations, lighter revision and setup checks.

Final checks before the skill test

Download the newest skill-test notice and confirm that no corrigendum has changed the instructions. Check the reporting time, documents, medium, equipment rules and any demonstration or practice link.

During the test, follow the on-screen and invigilator instructions even when they differ from your practice software. Start calmly and protect accuracy through the final minute.
